July 2018 - DREMA 2018 towards Industry 4.0

Aiming to keep up with the changes resulting from the development of the economy and, consequently, to be in line with the idea of Industry
4.0, which has already established itself in the minds of Polish and world entrepreneurs, it is unavoidable to invest in innovative technologies and modern machinery. Each year, Poznań becomes the hub of the wood and furniture industry for four days, and DREMA International Trade Fair of Machines and Tools for the Wood and Furniture Industries marks the changes, trends and direction in which the industry is heading. A good streak in the wood and furniture sectors announces a dynamic development of this year's DREMA 2018 trade fair, which promises a new record in terms of a comprehensive exhibition, the number of exhibitors and presentation of the latest solutions for the woodworking industry!

According to Andrzej Półrolniczak, the DREMA trade fair director, “In September Poznań will concentrate on the dissemination of the concept behind the fourth industrial revolution, especially as regards the furniture industry. The focus will be on the digitization, integration and automation of technological processes, whilst DREMA exhibitors will showcase machines, equipment, technological solutions and software in accordance with the concept of Industry 4.0.”

This year's exhibition DREMA 2018 will encompass 7 exhibition halls (3, 3A, 4, 5, 5A, 6, 8 and the outdoor area), the fair will be participated in by market leaders from 25 countries, who will present technologies of tomorrow dedicated to the wood, forest and furniture industries! For four days at the Drema 2018 trade fair you will have an opportunity to see the offerings of all businesses that are of great significance in the wood and furniture industry. Year by year, the exhibition is getting more extensive and the stands are getting bigger and bigger. Many exhibitors will showcase their concepts of applications for the woodworking and furniture industries as part of Industry 4.0, including digitization, integration and automation of wood production and wood treatment processes for both small and large furniture factories. The 2017 edition turned out to be very successful - over 380 exhibitors presented themselves on the exhibition area of 23,600 m2, and the MTP grounds were visited by a total of 15,800 participants of the DREMA FURNICA SOFAB trade shows. The aim of this year's edition of DREMA 2018 is to exceed these numbers and achieve more.

A platform for cooperation and development of the industry

DREMA is like a mirror reflecting the situation in the industry. The organizers managed to create a creative platform for cooperation, involving major trade associations and chambers, professional media and exhibitors. The constructive exchange of experience leads to broadening the agenda of events that complement the exhibition, significantly supporting the dynamic development; new ideas and undertakings, which meet the expectations of the market representatives, are still being implemented.

“According to the statistics, 2017 was a record-high year for furniture manufacturing in Poland; the value of sold production amounted to PLN 41.8 billion and is still on the rise. Innovative machine and technology solutions undoubtedly play an important role and the best way to get to know them is to take a look at them live at DREMA. That's why, when it comes to the future of the industry and, hence, DREMA, I am calm and optimistic. Furniture manufacturing in Poland is still growing, the industry is developing, manufacturers are seeing an increasing number of orders. However, there is a lack of qualified staff, which means that many factories are increasingly relying on production automation to both increase their production capacity and optimize their delivery times. Therefore, on one hand, participation in DREMA is an excellent opportunity to present new products and improved solutions. On the other hand, to get familiar with a wide range of companies from the industry and current trends,” highlights Andrzej Półrolniczak, DREMA director.

Business and pro-social initiatives

Apart from their purely business nature, the DREMA trade fair also plays a number of other functions: education, charity and promotion - all of which make the offer comprehensive and attract many people who are professionally and leisurely involved in woodworking. The educational function, manifested in lectures and workshops addressed to both the exhibitors and visitors, includes such topics as ecological wood combustion (biomass/pellet), machine safety (TeSaMa project), the process of creating furniture or floors (live furniture factories, parquet flooring workshops), a knowledge zone offering trainings, courses and industry literature. The Drema trade fair also offers space for pro-social initiatives - the charity function is, above all, the idea behind Drema for Children - a unique charity project aimed at creating sets of furniture for children from orphanages or foster families over the course of four days of DREMA. The promotion function is, in turn, an emphasis on promoting the industry, showing the strength of national and foreign associations (Wood Promotion Pavilion), the KOOPDREW conference and b2b meetings.

Broad prospects

For many years now DREMA has been an opportunity to present all the most modern achievements of Polish and foreign manufacturers of machinery, tools and equipment for the woodworking and furniture industries. It is also an ideal space to present modern technologies and solutions dedicated to the woodworking industry. Exhibitors are willing to boast of new developments and innovative achievements in the wood and furniture sectors. The ever higher level of the exhibition and subject-matter meetings, as well as close cooperation with exhibitors, partners and patrons are a guarantee that this year's edition of DREMA will provide abundance of innovative solutions and will provide participants with access to the best industry offering.

Along with industry partners, the DREMA organizers are constantly looking for ever newer solutions and interesting topics that may be of interest to professionals. Apart from the events that have accompanied DREMA so far (6th KOOPDREW Wood Industry Congress, Drema for Children, Wood Promotion Pavilion, Parquet Zone, Knowledge and Consulting Zone, Conjured from Wood competition, 17th Polish Championships in Nail Hammering, Lacquering Showroom), this year will see an increase in the number of existing partners who will prepare extremely interesting events within the trade fair space: live studio Dom i Drewno (Home and Wood) and Clash of Champions competition, Pellet Academy, OHS Zone, InfoTEC Workshop furniture manufacturing workshops, DREMA Tools, a new formula of B2B Wood Meetings or a valuable offering presented by the State Forests. The concept initiated at the previous edition of the Design in Wood Exhibition will be transformed into the DREMA DESIGN project, which will allow for a wider presentation of the possibilities of using wood and wood-based materials for artistic inspirations.
